Natural Wonders

Hello to all my readers!  This past  weekend was the World's Natural Hair Show in Atlanta.  I was unable to make it last year so I was overly excited about going this year.  So me and the girls hit the road.  As I am a lover of most things Atlanta, this trip did not disappoint.  We did some clubbing and some grubbing.  Friday night club scene was at Cream Ultra Lounge.  Aside from the bartender trying to give herself a 15 dollar tip...I enjoyed the night.  Then it was off to some late night grub at R. Thomas Deluxe Grill (love those wings and that magic stuffed potato)!

So then came Saturday.  We hit up the flea market, visited some friends and then headed to the Georgia International Convention Center.  It was so jam packed that a police was blocking entrance into the parking biggie.  We just parked across the street and walked.  Reliving this makes me want to cry...once we got into the convention center we were informed that the event was OVER CAPACITY and they were not letting anyone else in.  I. Was. Bummed.  They told us to make sure to come back on Sunday {Early} so that we could be guaranteed admission.

Unfortunately we were heading back to Columbia on Sunday so that wasn't an option for us.  So once again I missed the festivities.  :(  However, I have enjoyed looking at everyone's fabulous pictures.  So until next year...I continue to wonder how lovely of an event it is.

I am thankful for my friends that will hop on the road with me at the drop of a dime and even more thankful for those that let us crash at your spot!!!

Pura Vida!

Hey y'all!

I keep making promises to do better about posting and then I break those promises. So I won't make any such promise this time!

I wanted to give you all a little run down on a trip I recently took (and LOVED). Two of my sisters and my two best friends and I decided to make a run for the equator. To Costa Rica! We started planning pretty early and got tickets and such purchased. We stayed in Jaco (pronounced Haa-CO). I'm still not sure I'm saying that correctly. You should have seen the looks on the immigration officer's face when I pronounced it as it is spelled. I'm pretty sure he called me an ignorant American.

Anywho, we flew from Charleston because they had the better fares and schedules at the time that we booked. Charleston to Miami to Jan Santamaria Airport. Something happened on our flight and me and my bestie were asked to move to another seat. It was actually better seats than what we had. Since we were so accommodating, we were given some l…

Black Panther: Movie Review

Please tell me y'all have seen the movie? If you haven't, don't read this post!

Let me give you a little bit of my back story on this Marvel Cinematic Universe. I am a Marvel fan. I don't read the comics, but the movies?! I'm here for them. Some of them are blah, but I watch them anyway. Why? Because usually they overlap and share stories. So, in preparation for the opening of Black Panther, I watched ALL of the Marvel movies in order of the stories, not the release date. I followed CNET's guide and it was pretty accurate. I did not watch the TV shows because I would still be watching. You don't have to. The movies will fill you in pretty well.

Now, for what I thought.

1. This movie was beautiful! The colors, the wardrobes, the technology, the natural hair, the beautiful black people that starred in this film, it was amazing!

2. The women. OMG. The WOMEN! The strong women in the movie inspired me. Okoye makes me want to shave my hair back off. Nakia makes …

Soup(er) Sunday!

This past Sunday I hosted a Crafty with Canon party. I won the party through House Party (I love this site!).

Initially I was planning to do a few different finger foods. Well, the temperature dropped and I wanted soup. And chili. So I made both! And my sister also made a soup that was super delicious. I used my usual go to chili recipe, except I doubled up the seasonings because I didn't have a chili seasoning pack. I think it actually tasted better! I made it in my electric pressure cooker! It was so much faster and it tasted better than it usually does. I'm in love with my pressure cooker and would like another one. Anyone have one they want to give me?

Anyway, we had fun exploring the Canon Pixma printer and printing out photos and making cute little frames! But the food was really the star of the show! I'm going to link to all of the recipes because aside from small adjustments, none of them were my own!

Broccoli and Cheese Soup.
This was a big hit! It was my first tim…
