A Sprinkle of Sugar

Oh I’m so in LOVE!!!

A few months ago I purchased myself a Kitchen Aid stand mixer…and today I finally broke it free from the jail of a box it was held captive in! OMG! I don’t know what I was waiting on! Anyone that knows me knows just how much I love to cook. Baking has never been my thing, but I’m getting into it more and more. I’ve surprised myself with some of the creations that have managed to come out of my oven.

Well, this mixer makes it so much easier! I’ve had inferior mixers before and always ended up reverting to a hand mixer…but not this time! While the mixer was a bit pricey, today it has proved to already be worth it. I made the best butter cream icing I think I've ever had!

Revival starts at my church tomorrow and I was pegged to bring desserts. While most people undoubtedly just head to the bakery at their local supermarket, I had absolutely no plans and was ambitious enough to make everything...from scratch!
So what all did I make? A carrot cake, oatmeal raisin cookies, chocolate chip cookies, another cookie that I made up, red velvet cupcakes and another cupcake that was supposed to be red velvet but tastes more chocolaty.

While I have yet to construct my own recipes {Food Network saves me} I see it in my near future as I have some spare time on my hands [I finally finished my MBA-YAY]. I have even thought of a name for my bakery J! Well it would probably be more of a cafĂ© that serves small bites and tasty treats…maybe my dear friend Tamela and I could partner up…{hint, hint}.

Now for the magic question…What on Earth am I supposed to do with all this leftover butter cream icing?!
I'm taking donations from anyone wanting to donate so I can get some of the cool attachments!!

As my aching feet are screaming at me to be soaked…I will conclude this post.

Sending all my love and Chocolate Kisses

XOXO

RoJo

Black Panther: Movie Review

Please tell me y'all have seen the movie? If you haven't, don't read this post!

Let me give you a little bit of my back story on this Marvel Cinematic Universe. I am a Marvel fan. I don't read the comics, but the movies?! I'm here for them. Some of them are blah, but I watch them anyway. Why? Because usually they overlap and share stories. So, in preparation for the opening of Black Panther, I watched ALL of the Marvel movies in order of the stories, not the release date. I followed CNET's guide and it was pretty accurate. I did not watch the TV shows because I would still be watching. You don't have to. The movies will fill you in pretty well.

Now, for what I thought.

1. This movie was beautiful! The colors, the wardrobes, the technology, the natural hair, the beautiful black people that starred in this film, it was amazing!

2. The women. OMG. The WOMEN! The strong women in the movie inspired me. Okoye makes me want to shave my hair back off. Nakia makes …

Pura Vida!

Hey y'all!

I keep making promises to do better about posting and then I break those promises. So I won't make any such promise this time!

I wanted to give you all a little run down on a trip I recently took (and LOVED). Two of my sisters and my two best friends and I decided to make a run for the equator. To Costa Rica! We started planning pretty early and got tickets and such purchased. We stayed in Jaco (pronounced Haa-CO). I'm still not sure I'm saying that correctly. You should have seen the looks on the immigration officer's face when I pronounced it as it is spelled. I'm pretty sure he called me an ignorant American.

Anywho, we flew from Charleston because they had the better fares and schedules at the time that we booked. Charleston to Miami to Jan Santamaria Airport. Something happened on our flight and me and my bestie were asked to move to another seat. It was actually better seats than what we had. Since we were so accommodating, we were given some l…

Soup(er) Sunday!

This past Sunday I hosted a Crafty with Canon party. I won the party through House Party (I love this site!).

Initially I was planning to do a few different finger foods. Well, the temperature dropped and I wanted soup. And chili. So I made both! And my sister also made a soup that was super delicious. I used my usual go to chili recipe, except I doubled up the seasonings because I didn't have a chili seasoning pack. I think it actually tasted better! I made it in my electric pressure cooker! It was so much faster and it tasted better than it usually does. I'm in love with my pressure cooker and would like another one. Anyone have one they want to give me?

Anyway, we had fun exploring the Canon Pixma printer and printing out photos and making cute little frames! But the food was really the star of the show! I'm going to link to all of the recipes because aside from small adjustments, none of them were my own!
