Pinterest Strikes Again!

Since joining Pinterest in January I have cooked, baked and crafted my way into a bad habit! LOL! I spend too much money on trying stuff, but I am loving every minute of it! I have been off for two days and I have completed two projects. But they were so much fun and filled some time where I would usually just be bored. To my friend Monico...THANKS for sending me an invite!!!

After seeing all of the magnetic makeup boards inspired by this one, of course I wanted to make my own. I took a trip to Goodwill, simply to browse. I don't even know what I went it there for. But lo and behold I found a frame. And inside of that frame was already a fabulous piece of fabric! I started taking it apart before I remembered to take a picture. So, here is the picture of it deconstructed.

I was a little saddened when I went into Lowe's and they told me that they don't cut sheet metal. So I ended up having to get 2 pieces that were pre-cut, but they fit perfectly inside of the frame.

A little spray adhesive, wood glue (I broke the frame) and voila here we have a new magnetic makeup board...Now the question is...will it hold all of my makeup? Probably not! But that's OK too. I can at least keep my favorites up there. I bought a roll of self-adhesive magnet but for some of my bigger items I need to get stronger magnets. I went to 3 different stores and they are cheaper at Walmart...I just have to go back and get them. But here is the result! I'm super happy with it. And this fabulous fabric goes wonderfully with the prints in my bedroom.

So, today in my boredom, I decided just to go and take a walk around Michael's. You know, just to see if anything stuck out at me. And I really have no clue why the pink ribbon called my name! But it did. So I decided that my front door needed to be dressed up a little bit for the spring. So, I made a wreath :). My fool self...didn't buy enough ribbon and I knew I would need more...but I was able to cover the naked side of the wreath properly with the felt...um...flowers lol. I think it's pretty and it makes me happy just to look at it! And of course I forgot to take a picture before I started...

I would like to personally thank all the people that follow me and those that I follow for inspiring me...and making me broke! Happy Crafting! :)

**UPDATE**

Here is a picture of the completed makeup board. I finally got my most used makeup all magnetized and on the board. I found the little containers at the Dollar Tree and they already had magnets on them...now if I could just keep people from trying to take my lip gloss!!!

Black Panther: Movie Review

Please tell me y'all have seen the movie? If you haven't, don't read this post!

Let me give you a little bit of my back story on this Marvel Cinematic Universe. I am a Marvel fan. I don't read the comics, but the movies?! I'm here for them. Some of them are blah, but I watch them anyway. Why? Because usually they overlap and share stories. So, in preparation for the opening of Black Panther, I watched ALL of the Marvel movies in order of the stories, not the release date. I followed CNET's guide and it was pretty accurate. I did not watch the TV shows because I would still be watching. You don't have to. The movies will fill you in pretty well.

Now, for what I thought.

1. This movie was beautiful! The colors, the wardrobes, the technology, the natural hair, the beautiful black people that starred in this film, it was amazing!

2. The women. OMG. The WOMEN! The strong women in the movie inspired me. Okoye makes me want to shave my hair back off. Nakia makes …

Pura Vida!

Hey y'all!

I keep making promises to do better about posting and then I break those promises. So I won't make any such promise this time!

I wanted to give you all a little run down on a trip I recently took (and LOVED). Two of my sisters and my two best friends and I decided to make a run for the equator. To Costa Rica! We started planning pretty early and got tickets and such purchased. We stayed in Jaco (pronounced Haa-CO). I'm still not sure I'm saying that correctly. You should have seen the looks on the immigration officer's face when I pronounced it as it is spelled. I'm pretty sure he called me an ignorant American.

Anywho, we flew from Charleston because they had the better fares and schedules at the time that we booked. Charleston to Miami to Jan Santamaria Airport. Something happened on our flight and me and my bestie were asked to move to another seat. It was actually better seats than what we had. Since we were so accommodating, we were given some l…

Soup(er) Sunday!

This past Sunday I hosted a Crafty with Canon party. I won the party through House Party (I love this site!).

Initially I was planning to do a few different finger foods. Well, the temperature dropped and I wanted soup. And chili. So I made both! And my sister also made a soup that was super delicious. I used my usual go to chili recipe, except I doubled up the seasonings because I didn't have a chili seasoning pack. I think it actually tasted better! I made it in my electric pressure cooker! It was so much faster and it tasted better than it usually does. I'm in love with my pressure cooker and would like another one. Anyone have one they want to give me?

Anyway, we had fun exploring the Canon Pixma printer and printing out photos and making cute little frames! But the food was really the star of the show! I'm going to link to all of the recipes because aside from small adjustments, none of them were my own!
