Lazy, Bum.

I'm having way too many lazy moments. In fact, for this meal I opened the fridge and almost started crying because I wanted to go to sleep. But I was hungry, as I usually am by the time I get home from work. With no prior planning, I eyeballed a Marie Callender Turkey Pot Pie. I absolutely did not want that. Nor did I want to wait 45 minutes for it to cook in the oven.

Ok game on. What do I have? I had some tilapia and this little Fresh Takes deal that I picked up on my last trip to the grocery store.

I didn't know how this was going to end up, but it was worth a shot. So I preheated the oven to 375 and threw a bag of long grain and wild rice in the rice cooker. Being that I was less than excited to cook in the first place, I had no expectations of this dish lol.

I decided to make it "Special Extra" as the package suggested and dipped the fish in egg before I put it in the bread/cheese mix. First let me tell you that this particular one is very fragrant. I got excited when I got a whiff!

I followed the package directions for fish. This was very easy. My rice was cooking away and I decided I needed a veggie. Frozen green beans it is! Then I opened the cabinet and eyeballed a can of field peas and snaps. WIN! I think this may have been one of the easiest meals I have ever cooked!

The fish before going in the oven
You smell this cooking the whole time. My mouth watered in anticipation. By the time the fish came out of the oven, the green beans and peas were done. As I started plating food, the rice cooker popped to "warm." This meal seriously took about 45 minutes with no prior prep or planning.
Fresh out of the oven
Easy, quick and very tasty! Works as a quick fix. I love that tilapia thaws so fast! I'm excited to try the different varieties of the Fresh Takes with other kinds of meat! The possibilities are endless! I hope you all have a great week!

Black Panther: Movie Review

Please tell me y'all have seen the movie? If you haven't, don't read this post!

Let me give you a little bit of my back story on this Marvel Cinematic Universe. I am a Marvel fan. I don't read the comics, but the movies?! I'm here for them. Some of them are blah, but I watch them anyway. Why? Because usually they overlap and share stories. So, in preparation for the opening of Black Panther, I watched ALL of the Marvel movies in order of the stories, not the release date. I followed CNET's guide and it was pretty accurate. I did not watch the TV shows because I would still be watching. You don't have to. The movies will fill you in pretty well.

Now, for what I thought.

1. This movie was beautiful! The colors, the wardrobes, the technology, the natural hair, the beautiful black people that starred in this film, it was amazing!

2. The women. OMG. The WOMEN! The strong women in the movie inspired me. Okoye makes me want to shave my hair back off. Nakia makes …

Pura Vida!

Hey y'all!

I keep making promises to do better about posting and then I break those promises. So I won't make any such promise this time!

I wanted to give you all a little run down on a trip I recently took (and LOVED). Two of my sisters and my two best friends and I decided to make a run for the equator. To Costa Rica! We started planning pretty early and got tickets and such purchased. We stayed in Jaco (pronounced Haa-CO). I'm still not sure I'm saying that correctly. You should have seen the looks on the immigration officer's face when I pronounced it as it is spelled. I'm pretty sure he called me an ignorant American.

Anywho, we flew from Charleston because they had the better fares and schedules at the time that we booked. Charleston to Miami to Jan Santamaria Airport. Something happened on our flight and me and my bestie were asked to move to another seat. It was actually better seats than what we had. Since we were so accommodating, we were given some l…

Soup(er) Sunday!

This past Sunday I hosted a Crafty with Canon party. I won the party through House Party (I love this site!).

Initially I was planning to do a few different finger foods. Well, the temperature dropped and I wanted soup. And chili. So I made both! And my sister also made a soup that was super delicious. I used my usual go to chili recipe, except I doubled up the seasonings because I didn't have a chili seasoning pack. I think it actually tasted better! I made it in my electric pressure cooker! It was so much faster and it tasted better than it usually does. I'm in love with my pressure cooker and would like another one. Anyone have one they want to give me?

Anyway, we had fun exploring the Canon Pixma printer and printing out photos and making cute little frames! But the food was really the star of the show! I'm going to link to all of the recipes because aside from small adjustments, none of them were my own!
