Dropping Like It's Hot

Hey guys!

So I had my 36 week appointment yesterday. My doctor did not do a cervix check...she usually starts at 38 weeks. I guess the doctor that I saw last week starts earlier on her patients because she checked me...which only added to my angst. Furthering my frustrations, my doctor is still in a power chair and not able to bear weight on her leg. What is this going to mean for my delivery? Well, if everything goes ok, she will be able to deliver. If I need a C-Section, not so much. My birth plan consists of delivering a healthy baby. That's it. If we have to make a hole for her to come out of, so be it. I'm also just going to see how it goes without an epidural. If it gets too intense I will get one, if not, I won't.

3 more weeks. My baby is dropping deeper into my pelvic area so bathroom breaks come about every 45 minutes. Poor little bladder. I measured 34 1/2 weeks yesterday...which to me seemed super weird but she said it was ok. They are watching me closely because my blood pressure has it's own agenda, but so far no preeclampsia, thank God!

I think I felt my first Braxton Hicks contraction yesterday, but I'm not real sure about that. My doctor also told me that it was normal not to notice them as this is my first pregnancy. She assured me that when the real deal hits, I will know for sure that they are real contractions. I got the pep talk on reasons to call them:

  1. Not feeling the baby move in 4 hours...her instructions were to drink some cold water or fruit juice and lay on my side. If still no movement call.
  2. My water breaking. She said a "gush" but from what I have been reading it doesn't always happen as a gush.
  3. Contractions every 5 minutes for 1 hour.
  4. Fever, bleeding, and/or intense menstrual like cramping
I feel like I left something off that list...

I haven't toured the hospital. I feel like a slacker for this, but when I called last month the lady told me to call back this month so I wouldn't forget anything she told me. I'm going to call her this week and hopefully she can get me in there soon. I'm pretty familiar with the hospital though and I know where the triage is located so I'm not too worried.

I have the baby's bag packed, my bag is partially packed and the car seat is installed. Hopefully I can have some energy when I get home one day this week to take pictures of the nursery and bags. I mostly go home, eat dinner and go to bed. In that order LOL.

I just wanted to give you guys an update because I know you care so much! Thanks for reading and I look forward to sharing more with you soon!

Have a happy day!
RoJo

Black Panther: Movie Review

Please tell me y'all have seen the movie? If you haven't, don't read this post!

Let me give you a little bit of my back story on this Marvel Cinematic Universe. I am a Marvel fan. I don't read the comics, but the movies?! I'm here for them. Some of them are blah, but I watch them anyway. Why? Because usually they overlap and share stories. So, in preparation for the opening of Black Panther, I watched ALL of the Marvel movies in order of the stories, not the release date. I followed CNET's guide and it was pretty accurate. I did not watch the TV shows because I would still be watching. You don't have to. The movies will fill you in pretty well.

Now, for what I thought.

1. This movie was beautiful! The colors, the wardrobes, the technology, the natural hair, the beautiful black people that starred in this film, it was amazing!

2. The women. OMG. The WOMEN! The strong women in the movie inspired me. Okoye makes me want to shave my hair back off. Nakia makes …

Pura Vida!

Hey y'all!

I keep making promises to do better about posting and then I break those promises. So I won't make any such promise this time!

I wanted to give you all a little run down on a trip I recently took (and LOVED). Two of my sisters and my two best friends and I decided to make a run for the equator. To Costa Rica! We started planning pretty early and got tickets and such purchased. We stayed in Jaco (pronounced Haa-CO). I'm still not sure I'm saying that correctly. You should have seen the looks on the immigration officer's face when I pronounced it as it is spelled. I'm pretty sure he called me an ignorant American.

Anywho, we flew from Charleston because they had the better fares and schedules at the time that we booked. Charleston to Miami to Jan Santamaria Airport. Something happened on our flight and me and my bestie were asked to move to another seat. It was actually better seats than what we had. Since we were so accommodating, we were given some l…

Soup(er) Sunday!

This past Sunday I hosted a Crafty with Canon party. I won the party through House Party (I love this site!).

Initially I was planning to do a few different finger foods. Well, the temperature dropped and I wanted soup. And chili. So I made both! And my sister also made a soup that was super delicious. I used my usual go to chili recipe, except I doubled up the seasonings because I didn't have a chili seasoning pack. I think it actually tasted better! I made it in my electric pressure cooker! It was so much faster and it tasted better than it usually does. I'm in love with my pressure cooker and would like another one. Anyone have one they want to give me?

Anyway, we had fun exploring the Canon Pixma printer and printing out photos and making cute little frames! But the food was really the star of the show! I'm going to link to all of the recipes because aside from small adjustments, none of them were my own!
