6 Weeks Postpartum

Ok so I'm a few days away, but I had my checkup yesterday. All is well. I've been cleared to workout...starting slowly. And my doctor wants to see how I do off of blood pressure meds since my pressure has been really good. I hope this child of mine doesn't drive it up. OH MY GOSH! People say I'm the most prepared person they know. You cannot prepare for this!!

She is the sweetest baby ever...when she's asleep. She's spoiled rotten and that's my fault. But it's so easy to do when holding her calms her down. I don't know what she's going to do when I go back to work. It's going to be rough. For both of us.

She is very alert during the day and loves observing everything. Around 10 pm we get "the witching hour," which seems to last all night. I don't know what time either of us fell asleep last night. I woke up at 6 this morning still in an upright position holding her to my chest with my glasses on. There is absolutely nothing you can do to calm them during this time. It's upsetting for the both of us. I know it will get better and I'm looking forward to it. Good thing I'm kind of used to not sleeping so I don't totally look like a raccoon.

I bathed, fed and put her in her bassinet about 20 mins ago and now she's starting to stir. I should have napped instead of writing this post but I miss you guys!  My family and friends have been awesome in helping out. I really need someone here around the clock to help. Single parenting sucks ass!!

Thanks for being my therapy. Nite folks. Gonna try to get in thirty minutes of ZZZZZZs.

Black Panther: Movie Review

Please tell me y'all have seen the movie? If you haven't, don't read this post!

Let me give you a little bit of my back story on this Marvel Cinematic Universe. I am a Marvel fan. I don't read the comics, but the movies?! I'm here for them. Some of them are blah, but I watch them anyway. Why? Because usually they overlap and share stories. So, in preparation for the opening of Black Panther, I watched ALL of the Marvel movies in order of the stories, not the release date. I followed CNET's guide and it was pretty accurate. I did not watch the TV shows because I would still be watching. You don't have to. The movies will fill you in pretty well.

Now, for what I thought.

1. This movie was beautiful! The colors, the wardrobes, the technology, the natural hair, the beautiful black people that starred in this film, it was amazing!

2. The women. OMG. The WOMEN! The strong women in the movie inspired me. Okoye makes me want to shave my hair back off. Nakia makes …

Pura Vida!

Hey y'all!

I keep making promises to do better about posting and then I break those promises. So I won't make any such promise this time!

I wanted to give you all a little run down on a trip I recently took (and LOVED). Two of my sisters and my two best friends and I decided to make a run for the equator. To Costa Rica! We started planning pretty early and got tickets and such purchased. We stayed in Jaco (pronounced Haa-CO). I'm still not sure I'm saying that correctly. You should have seen the looks on the immigration officer's face when I pronounced it as it is spelled. I'm pretty sure he called me an ignorant American.

Anywho, we flew from Charleston because they had the better fares and schedules at the time that we booked. Charleston to Miami to Jan Santamaria Airport. Something happened on our flight and me and my bestie were asked to move to another seat. It was actually better seats than what we had. Since we were so accommodating, we were given some l…

Soup(er) Sunday!

This past Sunday I hosted a Crafty with Canon party. I won the party through House Party (I love this site!).

Initially I was planning to do a few different finger foods. Well, the temperature dropped and I wanted soup. And chili. So I made both! And my sister also made a soup that was super delicious. I used my usual go to chili recipe, except I doubled up the seasonings because I didn't have a chili seasoning pack. I think it actually tasted better! I made it in my electric pressure cooker! It was so much faster and it tasted better than it usually does. I'm in love with my pressure cooker and would like another one. Anyone have one they want to give me?

Anyway, we had fun exploring the Canon Pixma printer and printing out photos and making cute little frames! But the food was really the star of the show! I'm going to link to all of the recipes because aside from small adjustments, none of them were my own!
