Sizzle: A Restaurant Review

Hey people!
I hope your week is starting off better than mine (work woes)...but on a high note, I have a restaurant review for you! I tried to score a gift card to giveaway...but that didn't happen.

Usually I stay away from new restaurants for at least a month. Or two. What's my issue? I hate kinks. Like really hate kinks. Especially for non-chain establishments that are just kicking off. But one of my gal pals posted a link to this place before they opened and I knew it would be right up my alley.

The name of the restaurant is Sizzle and it is "A Bacon Eatery!" As much as I try to cut back on pork (and beef), I don't think I will EVER quit bacon. Like never. I don't eat it as much as I used to but man, I loves me some bacon! So needless to say, this place wasn't open a good two weeks before I made my way there. The circumstances that got me there are a little shady, but I went nonetheless.

A few friends and I decided to head on over and give it a go...all equal bacon lovers. I must say, overall, I was impressed. There were a few kinks but not enough for me to say I'm never going back. And I'm sure those minor issues will be worked out soon, if they haven't already been worked out.

One of the things that I loved was that the owner came out and introduced himself and he walked around to check on things. Now this may be because I told him I was going to blog about my experience, but I'd like to hope that it is his norm.

It's a quaint little place located in 5 Points here in Columbia. I see another visit in my near future. The waitresses were friendly and the drinks were awesome. See below for what we had for dinner.

Peachy Lemonade

Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog w/ Bacon Pimento Cheese

Even the pickles were yummy...Hey Grasshopper!

Sizzle branded Brisket Burger

All B and No LT...Hey Tran!

Bacon Wrapped Shrimp and Grits

Bacon Split

Bacon Cheesecake
Overall, everything was enjoyed. I usually don't drink during the week (or on the weekend for that matter lol) but the waitress kept insisting I try the Peachy Lemonade. It didn't disappoint! The highlight for me, however, was the dessert. We shared both...but I could have easily devoured them both on my own in one sitting. The cheesecake was something they were just trying out, but I would scream to them "LEAVE IT ON THE MENU!" For real.

So, hats off to Sizzle for showing us a bacon good time! Y'all go try it and let me know what you think!

Black Panther: Movie Review

Please tell me y'all have seen the movie? If you haven't, don't read this post!

Let me give you a little bit of my back story on this Marvel Cinematic Universe. I am a Marvel fan. I don't read the comics, but the movies?! I'm here for them. Some of them are blah, but I watch them anyway. Why? Because usually they overlap and share stories. So, in preparation for the opening of Black Panther, I watched ALL of the Marvel movies in order of the stories, not the release date. I followed CNET's guide and it was pretty accurate. I did not watch the TV shows because I would still be watching. You don't have to. The movies will fill you in pretty well.

Now, for what I thought.

1. This movie was beautiful! The colors, the wardrobes, the technology, the natural hair, the beautiful black people that starred in this film, it was amazing!

2. The women. OMG. The WOMEN! The strong women in the movie inspired me. Okoye makes me want to shave my hair back off. Nakia makes …

Pura Vida!

Hey y'all!

I keep making promises to do better about posting and then I break those promises. So I won't make any such promise this time!

I wanted to give you all a little run down on a trip I recently took (and LOVED). Two of my sisters and my two best friends and I decided to make a run for the equator. To Costa Rica! We started planning pretty early and got tickets and such purchased. We stayed in Jaco (pronounced Haa-CO). I'm still not sure I'm saying that correctly. You should have seen the looks on the immigration officer's face when I pronounced it as it is spelled. I'm pretty sure he called me an ignorant American.

Anywho, we flew from Charleston because they had the better fares and schedules at the time that we booked. Charleston to Miami to Jan Santamaria Airport. Something happened on our flight and me and my bestie were asked to move to another seat. It was actually better seats than what we had. Since we were so accommodating, we were given some l…

Soup(er) Sunday!

This past Sunday I hosted a Crafty with Canon party. I won the party through House Party (I love this site!).

Initially I was planning to do a few different finger foods. Well, the temperature dropped and I wanted soup. And chili. So I made both! And my sister also made a soup that was super delicious. I used my usual go to chili recipe, except I doubled up the seasonings because I didn't have a chili seasoning pack. I think it actually tasted better! I made it in my electric pressure cooker! It was so much faster and it tasted better than it usually does. I'm in love with my pressure cooker and would like another one. Anyone have one they want to give me?

Anyway, we had fun exploring the Canon Pixma printer and printing out photos and making cute little frames! But the food was really the star of the show! I'm going to link to all of the recipes because aside from small adjustments, none of them were my own!
